This month, the Arts Council has two open calls for artists and a full Event Calendar of local art happenings in Hernando County!

CALLS TO ARTISTS

“I” - Identity Exhibit

The Brooksville Gallery at 201 invites you to submit 3 pieces of your artwork created as a reflection of the self. The “I” - Identity theme can have many approaches, and it will be exciting to see the artwork associated with self-identity and reflection. This can be a self portrait, or it may tie in relationships. Deadline to apply is July 7!

Front Porch Art Walk

Every second Saturday in Hernando Beach, we showcase the works of 20+ artists at local businesses along Shoal Line Blvd. The next one is on Saturday, July 1 from 10 AM - 2 PM!

We are seeking artists to join us for this Front Porch Art Walk in July! This is a great way to get your artwork in front of the Hernando Beach community.

Entirety K12 Annual Art Gallery

Check out this Annual Art Gallery, featuring a school-wide art showcase and murals created by the students of EntiretyK12. Ms. Melanie & Ms. Kaylee have some great surprises for you. This is an event you don’t want to miss!

SUMMER ART CLASSES

Many parents are reaching out about our Art Mark summer program for kids. The Arts Council will be finalizing our plans for Art Mark classes very soon! Be sure to check out our website to browse our list of other organizations and individual artists who offer art classes or summer art camps.

What has the Arts Council been up to since our last newsletter?

Congressional Art Competition

Our area's high schoolers are so talented, and blew us away with their work in the Congressional Art Contest. We are so proud that this year’s District 12 winner is a student from Hernando County, Madeline Teague! Madeline won round trip plane tickets to Washington DC to see the full exhibit of winning artworks, and the Arts Council recently awarded her with $1,000 to assist with the cost of travel.

Thank you to Congressman Gus Bilirakis for encouraging the young minds of our Congressional District to create! Thank you to Rusted Jade Art Collective for donating a gift certificate on behalf of the Arts Council to be used as an award for the show as well!

Lion’s Club Poster Contest

Our Entertainment Coordinator, Isaiah Haddon, was recently invited to judge the Peace Poster Contest, an exhibit of Hernando County middle schoolers’ artwork presented by Spring Hill Nature Coast Lions Club. Congratulations to the winners!

Mermaid Unveilings

Three new mermaids found their homes along the Mermaid Tale Trail.

Mermaid Esturia by Deb Newman is now at the Jerome Brown Community Center (99 Jerome Brown Place)
Mermaid Tifara by Jancie Uribe is now at the Hernando County Administration Building (15470 Flight Path Dr.)
Mermaid Lily by Gary Duquette is now at Russell Street Park (28 Russell St.)
