Community Arts Grant
We offer annual Community Arts Grants to local groups to promote all the arts in Hernando County.
The Community Arts Grant program offers grants to civic or cultural organizations recognized as non-profits or charitable groups that support art and encourage art appreciation in Hernando County.
Funding for the grant program is generated from the sale of the "Florida State of the Arts" specialty license plates in Hernando County, by donations to the Council's Very Important Partner program, and proceeds from Art in the Park.
2020 Community Arts Grants Program Guidelines
The Hernando County Arts Council offers grants of up to $500 each for local groups to promote all the arts in Hernando County.
All applications must align with the HCFAC mission statement: “Our Mission is to encourage, promote, and support all the creative arts in Hernando County and to provide a means to showcase the arts.”
Who can apply?
Any Hernando County education, art, civic or cultural organization recognized as a nonprofit or charitable group.
October 4, 2019--5 pm application deadline
November 14, 2019--Grant Review Panel, 4-5:15 pm, Brooksville City Hall (New this year--attendance is mandatory)
December 12, 2019--Council selects grant recipients
December 18, 2019--Awardees notified
January 9, 2020--4:30-5:45 pm awardees attend mandatory grant meeting and Arts Council meeting to receive certificates and approval to begin projects.
January 9-December 31, 2020--Project period
January 15, 2021--Invoicing deadline for 2020 projects

Projects must take place in Hernando County.
Grant funds must be used for approved project expenses only.
Grant funds cannot pay for salaries, operating expenses, capital improvements, infrastructure, travel expenses, private entertainment, political advocacy, food, or beverages.
No expenditure made outside the project period (1/9-12/31/2020) can be reimbursed.
This grant is reimbursement only. Grant funds will be dispersed only after the completion of the project with submission of invoice, final report and appropriate documentation showing the deliverables were completed and expenditures made as approved.
All printed materials associated with the grant project (advertising, brochures, web pages, programs, etc.) must include the Arts Council’s logo and this acknowledgement: Sponsored in part by the Hernando County Fine Arts Council. Printed materials associated with the project must be submitted to the Arts Council in the final report.
Final report can be submitted any time after completion of the project but no later than January 15, 2021.
All decisions will be final and based completely upon the application submitted. Those who do not send a representative to attend the mandatory Grant Review Panel meeting (November 14, 2019) and the notice-to-proceed meeting (January 9, 2020) will no longer be considered for grant funds. All decisions of the Arts Council or its Grants Committee if appointed will be made in noticed public meetings and will be final. The Arts Council reserves the right to resolve and act upon any and all questions relating to an application to its exclusive satisfaction.
Award amounts will be based upon budgeted, available funds.
In evaluating grant applications for funding, the Council will give preference to projects that are innovative, impact the most people, and are most effective in encouraging, promoting, supporting and/or showcasing the creative arts in Hernando County.
