ARTIST BIO
Joanne LoBianco grew up on Long Island in New York and her love for photography was inspired by her dad. Her dad always followed his family of six kids around with his camera documenting every holiday, special occasion or vacation they took. For her high school graduation, he gave Joanne her first 35mm camera and her love photography began. As an art major in college, she took her first photography class and became certified shutterbug from then on. After marrying the love of her life and having three children, she became a “click it mom.”
After practicing taking portraits of her own children, she started a photography business with a friend and photographed weddings, dance recitals and modeling portraits. She moved to Florida in 1992 and went back to college to become a teacher, but her love of photography continued and she joined the Spring Hill Camera Club where she joins fellow members on field trips, attends photography workshops, and enters monthly competitions where she’s earned many awards.
Her interest in photography ranges from porch at work to architecture but her greatest love has become nature photography. Due to her love of nature and wildlife, she has recently joined the Audubon Society and loves taking hikes with her birding friends. In addition to her level photography, she is a special education teacher at J.D. Floyd elementary school, a mom to three grown children and a grandmother. She’s been married to her husband for 39 years, who is also an ad photographer.
Joan won the Hernando County Fine Arts Council’s 2021 Annual Arts Contest with her photograph, “In Mama’s Embrace.”
