In February 2024, Hernando County Government renamed “Kennedy Park” to “Coach Lorenzo Hamilton Sr. Park.” To further honor the life of Coach Hamilton, Lifeline University donated a mural to the park that was painted by local artist, Lakeema Matthew. The Arts Council was proud to sponsor this mural project through our Community Arts Grant program!

Another mural from the 6th round of the Mobile Mural program, “Family of Three” showcases one of Florida's iconic wildlife species - the Sandhill crane. Yasaman came all the way from Toronto, Canada to create this mural, making her the program’s first international artist! She pulled colors from the Hernando County logo (which also features a crane!) and from the Bandshell Stage, which it is located next to, to bring a cohesive look to Hernando Park.

A beautiful, interactive mural found on S Main Street a walkway down from The Bistro and across from the Jennings Building. Gary's angel wings were painted in 2021 through Brooksville Main Street’s mini mural series and is just begging for you to pose with it!

This fun selfie mural at Country Depot is a permanent mural from the 6th round of the Brooksville Main Street Mobile Mural Program. Chris made a YouTube video explaining the vision for the mural and sharing behind-the-scenes footage of the process.

This eye-popping mural brings a cool, colorful vibe to Frosty Frank’s! Owner John Lee is no stranger to art. His restaurant across the street, Coney Island, also has unique artwork from over the years. John commissioned Jesse to paint the mural in 2022 after placing the winning bid on one of his Mobile Murals!

Each letter has its own meaning and representation of Brooksville. The vision was a classic Florida postcard-style mural that symbolized the great landmarks and activities our home is known for. The mural was painted in 2019. Local artists Joel Hernandez and Allisa Babor assisted Gary with the mural.

This mural is found on the side of the entrance building to Boyett’s Grove. It is one of many murals and art sculptures on the property. James Oleson is the son of the owner of Boyett’s Grove and his artistic talents can be seen all over the space. You can also see his Knight sculpture outside of Brooksville City Hall.

The mural depicts a scene of a vineyard off the coast in Italy. Wrapping around the building, the mural gives an immersive feeling with its unique design as if you are enjoying the view yourself. The mural was painted in 2021 by long-time collaborators, Gary and Deborah. Gary frequently teaches wine painting courses at Once Upon a Vine for artists of all levels.

In 2021, the Arts Council awarded the Rotary Club of Spring Hill Florida with a $1,000 grant for a Student Activity Inclusivity Mural at Springstead High School. Over 50 students in the Interact Club collaborated on a series of six murals, displaying teamwork and commitment week after week!
