The Hernando County Fine Arts Council dreamed of a cultural arts center in Hernando County that could attract national acts, as well as offer artists space for a gallery, exhibitions, classrooms, workspace for artists, rehearsal space, and storage. Maybe even a coffee shop. Mindful of past efforts that started strong, but collapsed before the dream became reality, they conducted a market assessment with the DLR Group, experts in the field.

COVID-19 concerns lead to the cancellation of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council 37th Annual Art in the Park this March
On Thursday, January 14, at the Council’s monthly meeting, members cited the County's soaring positivity rate and fears of hosting a superspreader event. It was a difficult decision to break with a long-standing tradition and to disappoint artists, vendors, and art lovers alike. Ultimately, however, Council members unanimously agreed to prioritize the health and safety of all involved over its own economic loss and voted to cancel Art in the Park as currently planned for this March.
